Welcoming the Olympic Games with Handy Fingers and Childlike Innocence

I know an old woman ,the maker of one hundred sets of Fuwa.Her name is Wu Yupei. The 86-year-old woman is neither hard of hearing nor dim-sighted. She weaved one hundred sets of Fuwa to express her welcome the Olymipic Games.Each Fuwa is at tall as a person's palm and made of colorful beads.

Weaving one hundred sets of Fuwa for the Olympic Games was the most practical thing Wu Yupei could do for the Beijing Olymipics. As a matter of fact, on the night of July 13,2001,the elderly woman did plan to do a lot for the Beijing Olympic Games. She used all her time weaving Fuwa.If she felt tired ,she watched sports programs on TV. Wu Yupei was an out-and-out sports fan.

Wu Yupei finished one hundred sets of Fuwa 100 days prior to the Beijing Olympic. She sent them to the community committee and asked people there to help her fulfill her wishes.She said,"I hope Fuwa will be given to the foreign guests. They are tokens of friendship and world peace. Welvome to my home!"
